Privacy Policy
PickUpTrashWithMe ("we," "us") is a community effort to organize neighborhood trash cleanups in New York City. This page explains what information we collect, why, and how we handle it. We keep it short because we collect very little.
Information we collect
We only collect what you choose to give us through our forms:
- When you schedule a cleanup: your name, email, and the cleanup details you enter (title, date, time, block/location, and description).
- When you RSVP to a cleanup: your name, email, and phone number (phone is optional).
- When you contact us: your name, email, and message.
We do not require you to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
How we use it
- To review, approve, and display cleanups on the map.
- To let neighbors RSVP and see who is attending (your name and RSVP count may be visible to others; your email and phone are not shown publicly).
- To contact you about a cleanup you organized or RSVP'd to, including if an event is cancelled.
- To respond to messages you send us.
We do not sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Where your information is stored
Submissions are stored in a private Google Sheet and sent to us by email through Google. We rely on Google's security for that data.
Third-party services
To run the site we use a few outside services that may receive basic technical information (such as your IP address) as your browser loads the page:
- Site hosting (Cloudflare)
- Map tiles from OpenFreeMap and OpenStreetMap, and location lookups via OpenStreetMap Nominatim
- Fonts from Google Fonts and scripts from the unpkg CDN
We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The site may store small non-personal items in your browser (for example, to remember map state).
Your choices
You can ask us to see, correct, or delete the information you've submitted at any time. Just email contact@pickuptrashwithme.com and we'll take care of it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date above.
